The Best Game 2021 is a sci-fi strategy computer game from Popcap Games. The game is set in 20 Facilities around the world and involves the player’s mission to save the Earth from destruction. Although it is just a fanmade project, the game has already received critical acclaim. One reason for its popularity is the game’s unique storyline, which is based on a futuristic openoutfitted adventure mission to find out what the particle physics are doing. The storyline is supported by a variety of special effects including clips of destructive quantum fission reactions and footage from top secret US spy ship.
Popcap Games is responsible for creating this game, which was co-created by Christian Audigier (designer of the popular PC game, Age of Empires: Castle Stories). The best part of the storyline is that players can literally choose which facility they would like to rescue from a devastating attack by a mysterious alien race called the Scavs. During your mission, you have various options to choose from, such as using a nuclear launch code or a human brain to manually commandeer a hovercraft or boarding ship. Although your ultimate goal is to save Earth from the Scavs, the main storyline is based around investigating the motivation of a group of radical scientists who want to use these weapons to strike against the Earth.
In order to play the game, you need to enter a secured facility and access the correct control panel. Once there, you will be greeted by an interface that looks more or less like a combination of an x-box, a mouse pad, and a keyboard. Your objective is to shoot down all aliens that land their craft into your space glass, and then rescue any civilians that may be caught within. Each level has multiple objectives and missions, which means that your score starts off slow but increases as you complete each level. In each level, you must also complete various challenges before moving on to the next, so playing the game requires quite some thought.
During gameplay, you will occasionally see a few static images of Earth as seen from orbit. This gives the impression that the entire planet has been destroyed. Although this might be true in a literal sense, the majority of the game takes place on the Earth’s surface, so the destruction is clearly artificial. The voice of the game’s narrator (voiced by veteran Hollywood vocalist Michael Massey) and score provide a steady, calm tone to the otherwise chaotic action. These eerie atmospheric scenes add a very atmospheric touch to the game, which helps it feel genuinely eerie and futuristic.
As you progress through the game, you’ll uncover and learn more about the motives of the scientists, who are behind the experiments. It is here where the real story of the game develops, and it becomes possible to piece together the different strands of the storyline. Ultimately, you must make your own decisions, as well, and the path through each level may vary greatly depending on how the game plays out.
Overall, this is a superb game. Although it takes a little bit of time and effort to master, the payoff is well worth it. The graphics are fairly basic and cartoon-like, but when they come together with the perfectly tuned physics system, the end result is a truly spectacular game. In short, this is one of those games that you will find yourself playing again – it’s a job killer!
